After making a private but binding agreement with your creditors, you may be granted a reduced amount. If this is set up by an insolvency practictioner (licensed for this job) you will be able to remove the debt completely after 5 years with that plan. This is the best way to rid yourself of debt, especially because the amount is reduced initially, and regardless where you stand at the end of 5 years, the amount is cleared. For this reason, not everyone and every debt qualifies for this arrangement.
