You’ll be working with weights, and if you lift them the wrong way, you could hurt yourself, and you don’t wan to do that, of course! One mistake a lot of beginners make is trying to lift too much weight, too quickly. It is better to start out with too little weight, and gradually work yourself upward to the heavier weights. If you use “free weights”, you’ll have individual plates, of varying masses, that you put on either end of a barbell or dumbbell. If you use a weight machine, there’s no chance that plates will fall off the end of a barbell, for example, because plates aren’t used, it’s all done by air pressure.It’s not hard to learn how to lift weights, it just takes some care and attention when you’re starting out. The most important lesson to learn is that of your workout sets. One or even two sets per exercise is more than enough for the average person.
