Apistogramma borellii is quite a delicate species of dwarf cichlid, being particularly sensitive to water quality, diet, medication and disease. However, they can be well-suited to aquariums because their temperature requirements are much less rigid than many other tropical fish and even dwarf cichlid species. Apistogramma borellii’s are comfortable in cool as well as warm water, with the ideal range being between 72 and 78 degrees, although wild apisto borellii’s have been known to thrive in waters as cool as 44 degrees.

There are a number of characteristics of the apistogramma borellii that makes them unique and appealing to tropical fish enthusiasts, and with the right care they can enjoy a lifespan of between 3 and 5 years.
